GRADE B – SECURITY TRAINING

In the South African security industry, Grade B is a supervisory level that requires training beyond the entry-level grades. It involves duties like supervising and training other security officers, managing security teams, conducting inspections, and handling incidents, according to this Facebook post, Guarding South Africa, and this YouTube short. A Grade B officer may also act as a site or shift commander and might perform duties of a lower-grade officer, such as Grade C.

Key responsibilities of a Grade B security officer

Supervision: Managing and overseeing the work of lower-grade security officers (Grades C, D, or E).

Training: Providing on-the-job training and instruction to other security personnel.

Incident management: Conducting investigations, taking statements, and handling incidents professionally.

Access control: Overseeing access control in high-risk areas, which may involve computer skills.

Inspections: Conducting regular site inspections and parades.
